Because of my orthopaedic care, I can walk again.
My name is Isaac and because of Dr. Timothy O’Mara, I can walk. I count my blessings every morning. I am blessed to be alive because I almost lost my life on September 26, 2009. On that morning I went for a hike at Lake Tahoe with a friend. As we were taking photos at Cascade Point I fell backward off the cliff. My friend watched helplessly as I fell 60 feet hitting every rock like a rag doll. I finally landed face down in the water. When my friend, who had just had surgery on his foot, reached me, I was unconscious but alive. Within 15 minutes help arrived and I was airlifted to the Renown Trauma Center in Reno, Nevada. I had a fractured right ankle and several dislocated vertebrae in my back. I was bedridden for almost a month and placed in a halo for three months. I was told my recovery would take a full year. One month after the accident, and four surgeries later, I began to learn how to move my body around again. I had to re-learn how to use my right foot because it had been damaged severely in the fall. Within five months I was able to begin walking without crutches, a walking boot, or a walker. I am happy to report that I am walking pain-free and very thankful for Dr. O’Mara.
