I became an orthopaedic surgeon because I love being in a specialty where where I can have an immediate effect on patients, most of whose lives can be much improved after orthopaedic care.
What is the most rewarding part of being an orthopaedic surgeon?
The most rewarding part to me is the ability to serve with and make a profound impact on the lives of injured Marines, Sailors and others, moments after having been injured on the battlefield. When not deployed, I get great satisfaction from returning injured service members to full function so that they can return to duty or pursue their desired civilian career.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and four children. I enjoy watching my children participate in sports. I also enjoy family travel.
In what volunteer activities or efforts do you engage that mean the most to you and those you serve?
I volunteer with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
