Surgeon Bios

I became an orthopaedic surgeon because...

I like helping people. I got drawn into surgery because I like working with my hands.

What is the most rewarding part of being an orthopaedic surgeon?

Whether it’s a bad injury or a relatively simple one, I like being able to guide someone through what the healing process is, showing them how it’s going to heal, getting them healed and having a verifiable, objective, successful outcome.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like reading history. I like firearms and shooting sports. My family and I also like camping and hiking – all the standard Oregon activities.

In what volunteer activities or efforts do you engage that mean the most to you and those you serve?

I have two young children so right now I am focusing on being a good husband and father, while continuing to provide the best care to my patients. This often involves volunteering at their activities and schools.
