I experienced several years of limited mobility of a weakening hip joint. At first my activity was lessened and I wasn’t able to exercise with full range of motion. Getting in and out of a vehicle became highly problematic and would necessitate using my arm to help lift my pant leg to help the leg into the car. The final straw was when I could no longer bend to take care of my beloved perennial garden. By then, the pain was excruciating and had elevated my blood pressure.

My treatment and recovery

I was in and out of the hospital in 23 hours after the procedure. Staples removed on day 16. On Day 17 I was swimming laps in a 50-yard pool. Day 30 up to 20 minutes on the stair stepper.

Do your homework, choose your surgeon carefully. Ask how many procedures he does, ask about infection rate, ask about the type of implant.
