Cooking is one of my passions and it was very difficult for me to allow my husband to prepare our meals.  About two weeks after surgery, I stood at the stove and fixed dinner.  Of course, he had to hand me utensils, pots and pans, etc., but otherwise I managed to do it on my own.  It was an exhilarating experience—like doing it for the very first time.

My treatment and recovery

My treatment/care was excellent and my recovery went very smoothly.  I was working from home within one week after my surgery and was back at my desk in the office within 30 days.

Follow your doctor’s advice regarding movement limitations. Begin therapy as soon as possible and do as much if not more than your therapist recommends. If you were very active prior to your surgery, recovery is less difficult. If you were not so active before, you will need to be as active as possible as soon as possible afterwards. Recovery is as much mental as it is physical, so keep a positive attitude and focus on what you can do—not what you can’t do.
