Because of my orthopaedic care, I can spend the day walking with my girls, going to the park, enjoying their energy and fun!
I am a 42 year old mom of seven. By December of 2011, my knees were so bad that I could no longer walk around the grocery store (my 2nd home!) for longer than 20 minutes without having to sit or stop altogether. I couldn’t enjoy walks through the beautiful Maine surroundings with my family, and I was exhausted by the end of any day that involved walking or stairs to any extent. I found Dr. Stephen Rodrigue in Portland, and he agreed to replace my knees even though most other surgeons denied me because I was “too young”. Not only is Dr. Rodrigue skilled, but he is compassionate, attentive and caring. He made sure that I was able to recover quickly and be back to work full-tme in seven weeks. Now, I can take the stairs anytime, several times a day! I have gone on long walks along Maine’s coastline watching my children run in the water and look for crabs and starfish. I even spent the entire day last weekend walking along the waterfront downtown to enjoy Bangor’s own American Folk Festival with 3 of my kids! I am so grateful to Dr. Rodrigue and his staff, my home health crew that provided my physical therapy and support, and that I truly have a new lease on life due to my new “bionic” knees!
