I became an orthopaedic surgeon because...

I want to help people and I love working with my hands. It is rewarding to do something definitive that affects people’s lives, treating acute problems.

What is the most rewarding part of being an orthopaedic surgeon?

The most rewarding part of being an orthopaedic surgeon for me, is seeing my patients’ good outcomes. To see someone in terrible pain and be able to take that pain away, is very gratifying.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy participating in sports and going to sports events. I enjoy going to the Diamondbacks baseball games and Cardinals football games, playing tennis and volleyball, and fishing. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, other family members, and friends.

In what volunteer activities or efforts do you engage that mean the most to you and those you serve?

Helping children is important to me. We support charities that benefit children. I can empathize with kids, and want to help kids both economically and just by bringing joy to their lives, because children need to be happy.
