I became an orthopaedic surgeon because...

I had a great experience as a teenager with a serious orthopaedic problem getting back to sports. I was interested in becoming a doctor my whole life and this directed me to a career in orthopaedic surgery.

What is the most rewarding part of being an orthopaedic surgeon?

I can improve almost all of my patient’s quality of life. Sometimes it is as easy as physical therapy or an injection. Sometimes the answer is more complicated with surgery and prolonged rehab but either way it is great seeing patients get back to their active lives.

What do you like to do in your free time?

All three of my kids ski race in the winter so I have a lot of fun with them skiing. In better weather I enjoy tennis, gardening and entertaining (I am actually a very good cook.)
